About The Event

About this event:

“I got away with it.”

Can we?  It’s certainly possible not to be caught.  But is it possible to avoid the natural consequences of doing wrong?

Claiming that there is a natural moral law, the ancient Roman thinker Marcus Tullius Cicero wrote that “Whoever is disobedient is fleeing from himself and denying his human nature, and by reason of this very fact he will suffer the worst penalties, even if he escapes what is commonly considered punishment.”

Then again, we are pretty good at outrunning the natural consequences of our acts.  These days we even have pills.

Or was Cicero onto something?  Could it really be true that we reap what we sow? Or not?
